September Favorites 2015

These are a few of my favorite things…

Today I would like to share with you some of my favorite things from the month of September.  I used all of these products nearly every day of this month.  At a second glance after photographing them all, it seems that I was kind of rounding out the summer with some really tropical, fruit scents and then moved into an autumn feeling toward the end of the month.  It’s interesting how that happens without you even realizing it.

My first favorite is something I bought right at the very end of August.  When we were on our trip to upstate New York for our friends wedding, I picked this up in a perfume store while we were out exploring on our last day.  I intended to find Bobbi Brown’s Beach, but they didn’t carry it, so I asked what would be comparable.  This is what we came up with.  Escada Rockin Rio is a crisp, fruit floral scent that reminds me of Ralph Lauren Ralph.  It’s nice and bright and citrusy, which is my go-to type of scent.  It is soooo nice!

Next is a pretty recent find from TJ Maxx.  I am always looking for a good daily moisturizer and I can’t seem to find one that I like at the drugstore.  Therefore, I peruse the moisturizer shelves at TJ Maxx fairly often looking for the perfect one.  This one has been working well for me over the past month.  The Alba Good & Healthy Anti-Oil Weightless Moisturizer is super lightweight, but moisturizes well.  It is also formulated for oily skin, so it has mattifying properties…perfect for these humid summer days we are still having!  Best of all, it has SPF 15 in it (a must-have for a daily moisturizer in my book).  The only bad thing I have to say about it is the smell.  It is made with greens such as kale and spinach, which gives it a green smoothie kind of smell.  If you drink green smoothies or pressed green juices, you know what I’m talking about.  Not so nice.  It is bearable enough for me to wear anyway and the scent goes away after it soaks into my skin.

If you have kept up with me over the past couple of years, you may know that I’ve dabbled in blogging on a separate platform and have even uploaded quite a few YouTube videos.  In that time, I have included the Batiste Dry Shampoo in Tropical many many many times.  I love this stuff.  Like, can’t like without it.  Fortunately for me, I can find it in my local TJ Maxx almost any time.  I usually grab a bottle or two every time I am there just in case I won’t be able to find it one day.  It is magical.  It makes my hair smell awesome and soaks up excess oil so that I can get away with washing my hair every other day.  It was a lifesaver when my hair was purple!  I highly recommend it.

I believe I have mentioned this body butter once or twice before.  It is pure joy in a tub.  The Body Shop Vineyard Peach Body Butter smells JUST like a fresh peach.  I mean, the first time I smelled it, I thought someone must have cut a peach in half and somehow magically extracted the exact smell and put it in this body butter.  It is amazing.  Truly amazing.  I use this every night before bed on my hands and elbows.  As you can see, it is almost gone (D:) and I must find another tub of it SOON.  If you love peach, try it.  You won’t be disappointed.

Do you love wine?  I love wine.  In fact, I spend way too much money on wine.  I had gotten into a nasty habit over the summer of buying a $10 bottle of wine every time I went to the store.  That gets expensive!  I had never honestly considered buying boxed wine until one day I decided enough was enough and I needed to get more for my money.  Boy am I glad I did!  This BotaBox RedVolution wine is a undeniably drinkable red blend wine that costs me $18 for the equivalent of 4 bottles of wine.  Now THAT is some money-saving business.  I still get the occasional bottle of my favorite, Menage a Trois Red Blend, but this makes my wallet much happier.

And finally, to round out the summer I recently made a Bath & Body Works purchase to grab some fall scents for the house.  Admittedly, I never got Sweater Weather last year, and I am so glad I did this year.If you didn’t know, I LOVE fall and even did a 7 Fall Favorites post recently.  A few years back, B&BW had a scent called Autumn Day which they have since retired (D:) and this is the closest I have been able to find to it.  It is a nice, crisp cool fall scent.  It has a slight warmth to it, but mostly has some really nice crisp apple notes in it that reminds me so much of that scent I loved so much.  It really gets me in the mood to wear a sweater and go sit outside with my wine!

Well, that is all I have for you for this month’s favorites!  We are definitely going through an indian summer here where I live, so I hope that next month’s favorites are filled with more cool weather things.
